Sidney Verba, Carl H. Pforzheimer University Professor and Director of the University Library, will report on the State of the Library, followed by:
Clifford Lynch, Executive Director of the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI) will address the Assembly on new technologies that are essential for enhancing research and advancing the networked information agenda. Open access is a favorite topic in his presentations, and developments that are likely to occur as a consequence of open access.
Prior to his current position with CNI, Lynch managed the MELVYL information system and the intercampus internet for the University of California. Lynch holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and is an adjunct professor at Berkeley’s School of Information Management and Systems. Lynch currently serves on the Internet 2 Applications Council and the National Research Council Committee on Intellectual Property in the Emerging Information Infrastructure.
