HOLLIS CIRCULATION LIAISONS MEETING September 15, 1998, 9:15-10:45 OIS Conference Room Informal meeting notes (MLC) |
Old Business
(MC) Negotiating team is meeting with DRA about contracting issues. Task groups provided gap lists to DRA for review. These gap lists are not system specs but rather annotated checklists with indications for Phasing requirements (phase 1, phase 2, future). The lsist also included some points of clarification from Harvard as requested by DRA. OIS is actively planning conversion and implementation and will keep units posted via several communication methods, including HOLLIS liaison meetings and the HOLLIS II web pages at http://hul.harvard.edu/hollis2/. Patron barcode numbers; MC met with Dave Wambach (ID office); some wrap-up needed at OIS. Expiration dates on graduating seniors' ID cards out of sync with HOLLIS dates. Seniors had 6/30/98 on their ID cards, but HOLLIS had only through 6/10. Not sure whether this was intentional on anyone's part; will try to review for 1999. Inactive issue. Approximately one dozen patron records with PN "DUPLICATE OF <patron id number>." MC looking into this. No update. |
New Business HOLLIS II conversion question from Allen Bourque (Cabot): item record charges counters. MC: The specific question had to do with the possibility of re-initializing charges counters as part of the HOLLIS II conversion. We expect to convert charges counters as well as last transaction dates. Used together in a report, the functionality required can be obtained without losing valuable historical data about an item's charge history. While participation in the circ liaisons meetings has remained has been fairly constant, it is not representative of all units. Increased participation will become vital as HOLLIS II planning and implementation gets underway. Cabot has recently initiated email renewal. Hilles, Cabot and Widener have made some changes in their operating hours. See postings on relevant newsgroups and/or the LG entries in HOLLIS. There was some general discussion about library closing times -- and finding the balance between providing service and being able to actually close at posted times. Widener has been able to lessen its closing time conflicts by restricting entry to the stacks 15 minutes before closing time. |
