Description of repository / collection image holdings:

The Radcliffe College Archives at the Schlesinger Library documents the history of Radcliffe College, its students, alumnae, and the women of Harvard University. These resources chronicle the growth of the college from an experimental program established in 1879 to provide women with access to Harvard teaching, to an institution coordinate with Harvard having its own property, endowment, students, and varied programs. Radcliffe College merged with Harvard University on October 1, 1999 thereby forming the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. http://www.radcliffe.edu/schles/archives/. Photographs are linked to finding aids through OASIS http://oasis.lib.harvard.edu

What we have in VIA:

Most of the photographs from the Radcliffe Archives have been digitized and cataloged in VIA. Especially well documented are images of student and campus life; Radcliffe property, Cambridge environs, and Harvard events. Additionally photographs from alumnae special collections illustrate world events, women's professional work, travel, and leisure, as experienced by Radcliffe alumnae.
