All dissertations, theses, and prize papers held by the University Archives are catalogued in HOLLIS. Nearly all are available for use in the Archives reading room.
Requesting copies of dissertations
- For copies of PhD dissertations written before 1981, researchers should contact Harvard College Library Imaging Services.
- For copies of PhD dissertations written after 1981, researchers should contact ProQuest/UMI.
- Most Harvard Ph.D. dissertations written after 1998 forward are available online and free of charge through UMI/ProQuest to members of the Harvard community with a Harvard ID and PIN.
Requesting copies of theses and prize papers
- For copies of theses and prize papers, researchers should contact Harvard College Library Imaging Services.
- The author's written permission is required for copies of any thesis or prize paper less than five years old.
