Explanation of Shelflists

"Shelflist" is a library term for a listing of all holdings in classified order.

The Archives' holdings are organized in two categories, historical collections and university records. Both categories are arranged according to local classification schemes. The shelflists follow these schemes.

Researchers can consult the classification schemes to identify the categories of holdings that they wish to target, and thereby focus their attention the areas of the shelflist that are most likely to include material that matches their interests.
