I am pleased to introduce OISWorks –  a new monthly email newsletter that will provide updates on recent system updates across all the systems supported by OIS.  In recent years, it has become a significant challenge to create effective and timely methods of communication for this large, diverse, and busy community.  OIS has a long tradition of relying on active and involved committees and working groups not only to recommend and prioritize system enhancements but also to keep the broader community informed about system updates and improvements.  This is a trial newsletter that we hope will enhance the process of keeping everyone in the Harvard library community more up to date on system enhancements and upgrades.  You will quickly notice that this is not a highly copy-edited newsletter.  We will strive to convey updates in non-technical language but our goal here is "quick and brief updates" rather than lengthy documentation so bear with us as we strive to find the right "voice" while maintaining a timely publication schedule and minimizing resources needed to compile the newsletter.  Our goal is to make it easy for everyone to quickly scan the list and find the items that interest them.
Just a reminder that in addition to the monthly issue of OISWorks, we maintain a status list of large projects that have been prioritized by the University Library Council:  http://hul.harvard.edu/ois/systems/devpriorities.html  The development project list is updated on a quarterly basis.  I hope that you find these forms of communication useful and informative – as always, I am open to your comments, questions, or any constructive feedback!
