Aleph/HOLLIS Catalog

10/28 Changed labels for certain 520 fields (Subject, Review, Scope and content, Abstract, Content advice) in OPAC.
10/28 Implemented enhanced Unicode precomposition table to accommodate variable order of diacritics for characters with more than one accent.
10/27-28 Loaded 150,000 CRL records. Approximately 128,000 added as new, primarily theses.

10/27 Changes to Call number index displays in Cataloging client
10/16 Item status and loan policy tables in Aleph were configured to allow Baker Library to circulate Apple iTouch devices from the reserve desk.  At this time, the iTouch devices enable the HU community and prospective students to take a podcast tour of Baker Library.
10/15 Loaded supplement of 500 records for Safari e-book collection. The initial load of 5000 Safari e-book records took place in September.

10/02 Bug fix: Bibliographic records brought in from WorldCat via Z39.50 are showing unwanted fields (952, 994, 948, and SID).
10/02 Added 4 collection codes (including WAX) and new subfields to 506 in holdings that will be used for WAX cataloging.
10/02 Aleph service pack installed.
10/01 Implemented service pack enhancement that allows call number to display on the HOL tab in the cataloging editor.

Collection Tools (VC & TED)

10/15 VC 1.2.5 released. Includes changes to support web crawling of OCP virtual collections.

DRS & Delivery Services

10/09 Batch Builder 1.2.9 released.
10/02 Billing administration portion of DRS Web Admin updated to support FY09 billing.
10/01 HOLLIS metadata harvester for PDS (aleph_ws) 1.0.6 released.  Updated the IP allow list to support new monitoring service.

EResource Systems

* Subscription renewals are underway for Blackwell, Elsevier, Springer and Wiley and other vendors..

* E-journals:  The SFX database of e-journal information, which supports the Find It service, was updated with the July, August, September, and October monthly files.  After the updates, over 8,000 new journals were added to Find It and the HOLLIS Catalog. There are now approximately 40,917 journals in the Harvard Libraries' Find E-Journal list. 

* E-resources:  There were 19 new resources added to the e-research (Metalib) portal during September and October. New e-resources added within the past 3 months are also available at any time; from the e-research portal, select the cross-search tab, and then under "Select Search Type" choose "New E-resources".  Currently there are 27 resources on trial via the ERM.

Reporting & Statistics

10/31 Full refresh of Aleph bibliographic reporting data.
10/14 New data in Aleph reporting database.
10/07 Library Reporting System was moved to a new server.
10/06 Portal statistics released for FY07 and FY08.

OLIVIA/VIA

10/12 Approximately 43,000 new/updated authority records were exported from OLIVIA to VIA, bringing the total in VIA to just over 82,000 authority records. Going forward, updates will be scheduled the first Monday of every month, starting November 2008.
10/05 OLIVIA bug fix: problem printing from a list of Sites.
10/01 VIA 2.5.1 released:
   * Fixed bug that prevented full size display of restricted images from full record view.
   * Updated text on deep content pages.

Reserves List

10/8 Reserves List 3.1.14 released:
   * Change the URL for the Course iSites contact page link in Library Tool interface.
   * Add a new IP address to the IP allow list to support access by a new monitoring server.
