This message will be of interest to users of the Page Delivery Service (PDS) ...
Tuesday morning January 19, OIS modified the PDS public interface to limit the number of pages that users can request from the "Printable Version" option. With this change, users can generate a PDF for up to 10 pages of a document in a single request. The option to generate a whole document PDF has been disabled, although users have the option to make successive requests that are subject to the 10-page limit.
This is a temporary limitation added in response to very heavy server loads that have significantly slowed down Image Delivery performance in recent weeks. It appears that a high volume of PDS "convert to PDF" requests is a significant contributor to the problem, so we will monitor Image Delivery performance to see if this change makes a difference.
While this limitation is in place, OIS will be investigating alternate ways to support the PDS "Printable Version" option in the longer term.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact the PDS support team via their feedback form.
Our apologies for the inconvenience. Regards. –julie
