Public Systems Availability

All public systems (HOLLIS, HOLLIS Classic, E-Research*, VIA, OASIS, Digital Repository Service, Harvard Geospatial Library) will be available according to their regular schedules.

*While E-Research will be available throughout the winter recess, we cannot guarantee that all the services made available through E-Research will be available continuously through this period. Any problems with E-Research resources should be reported to the Support Center.

Staff Systems Availability

All staff systems (Aleph, OLIVIA, the OASIS Interactive Loader and the Metalib/Verde/SFX) will be available at their regular schedules.

All Aleph batch products (invoice reports, circulation notices, etc.), with the exception of Term Bill, are expected to be available at their normal schedules throughout the winter recess. The last Preliminary Term Bill of 2012 was run on Tuesday, December 11 and the last Final Term Bill of 2012 was run on Thursday, December 13. The first Preliminary Term Bill report of 2013 will run on Tuesday, January 8. The first final Term Bill report of 2013 will run on Thursday, January 10. Note that no term bill reports will run the week of December 17.

Harvard Depository Requests

The Harvard Depository will be closed for the winter recess. Requests for items at the Harvard Depository that are placed after 6:40 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 and until 6:40 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 will be delivered on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Please contact the with questions.

Ordered-Received and On-Order Material Requests

Patrons can place requests for Ordered-Received Materials and On-Order Materials throughout the winter recess. Ordered-Received requests received after 12 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012 through Tuesday, January 1, 2013 will be fulfilled as soon as possible starting on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.

Get It Services

Borrow Direct, Scan and Deliver, and Interlibrary Loan services will be suspended from December 21, 2012 through January 1, 2013. Any requests made during this time will be processed beginning Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in order of receipt.

Harvard College Library Special Collections Request System

Many Harvard Special Collections have limited hours during Winter Recess and January Term. For details, please see: Harvard College Library Hours. Items requested through the Special Collections Request system will be processed only when the holding library is open.

Also, Special Collections items housed at the Harvard Depository must be requested by 6:40 a.m. December 21st for use before the holiday break. Items from the Harvard Depository requested after that time will not be delivered until January 2nd.

Virtual Reference

The 'Ask a Librarian' service will be suspended from Friday, December 21 until Wednesday, January 2 for the holiday break. Any questions received during this period will be answered beginning January 2.

Systems Support

Emergency technical support will be "on call" in the event of any major systems failure. In the event of a systems emergency, call the HUIT 24/7 Operations Desk at (617) 495-3232. Please specify that you are calling about a library system.

LTS Office Hours and Services

The Library Technology Services will be closed from 5:00 Friday, December 21, 2012 thru Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Regular office hours will resume on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Voice and email messages will be collected daily. Any urgent messages will receive a response within 24 hours.
