E-Research @ Harvard Libraries (MetaLib) Overview

http://e-research.lib.harvard.edu

With the goal of significantly enhancing the functionality of the Harvard Libraries website (lib.harvard.edu), the Harvard libraries have implemented the MetaLib federated search tool from Ex Libris. MetaLib provides a standardized user interface and front end to a wide variety of information resources.

E-Research at Harvard Libraries is the public name of the Harvard implementation of MetaLib. E-Research replaced the portal's "E-Resources" menu and has expanded upon the e-resource functionality of the portal. The new tools will allow users:

  • to locate e-resources by name, keyword or subject;
  • to locate e-journal titles in a single listing;
  • to search across multiple resources with a single search;
  • to save and manage search results, e-resource sets, and lists of favorite e-journals;
  • to click on Find It @ Harvard buttons for all search results in order to locate items at Harvard
