How to Install the OLIVIA Windows Client
The OLIVIA client for Window is available for download from the OIS web site: http://hul.harvard.edu/ois/systems/olivia/client_win/4D2004.7r3_WIN_Client.zip.
Note that this is a ZIP file and you will need a ZIP program (WinZIP or EasyZIP) to unzip the file. If you encounter any problems with installation or operation of the client, please contact the OLIVIA Support Team in OIS.
- Download this file to your PC:
Right click on the link above and choose "Save link as..." (if using Mozilla Firefox) or "Save target as..." (if using Internet Explorer) from the menu that appears. Your browser will ask you where it should save the file. Choose your Desktop.
- Install the client:
Double click on the file. Your ZIP program (WinZIP or EasyZIP) will open. Click "Extract" button. On the next screen make sure "Extract all" or "All files" is checked. Choose the C:\ACI folder as destination. Click "Extract".

You are now done with the installation.
- Configure the client:
- Open the ACI folder on your C drive (you can do this by double clicking on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop, then double clicking on the C drive in the window that appears, then double clicking on the ACI folder).
- The ACI folder should contain a folder named "4D Client 2004.7". Open this folder.
- You should see a file named 4DClient.exe (depending on how your machine is set up, the "EXE" extension may not display. In this case you will want the file named 4DClient whose icon is a blue square with "4D" in white letters. You do not want the one whose icon has a smaller blue square superimposed over a picture of a page). Right click on this file and choose "Create Shortcut" from the menu that appears. This will create a file named "Shortcut to 4DClient.EXE" in the same folder. Drag this new file to your Desktop.
- Double click on the new "Shortcut to 4DClient.EXE" file on your Desktop. The OLIVIA client will open up and present a window named "Connection to 4D server". Select the "Custom" tab. In the box for Database Name type "OLIVIA Prod" and in the box for Network Address type "olivia-prod.harvard.edu":

- Note that in order to make use of some features of OLIVIA, a complete installation of QuickTime is necessary (latest version is OK). To download QuickTime follow this link: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/.
- You are now done with the configuration of the client. Click the OK button. This will save the information about the address of the OLIVIA system and attempt to initiate a new session. You should be prompted for your username and password.
Note: If you encounter an error message Error -10002 while connecting to OLIVIA, it is possible that your network is not configured to access OLIVIA server port 19813. If you consistently receive this error, contact your IT department to verify that your computer is able to communicate with port 19813 of olivia-prod.harvard.edu.
- If you would like to configure your client to also be able to connect to the QA system (used for testing and training), repeat steps d and e above, but for the Database Name enter "OLIVIA QA" and for Network Address enter "olivia-test.harvard.edu".
- You may delete the installation files you downloaded for the OLIVIA client after installation is complete.
- Using the client:
- When you double click on the shortcut to the client you will see a "Connection to 4D Server" window that looks like this:

- Simply make sure the OLIVIA Prod database is highlighted and click the OK button. You will be prompted for your OLIVIA username and password.
