How to Install the OLIVIA Mac Client

The OLIVIA client for the Macintosh is available for download from the OIS web site: http://hul.harvard.edu/ois/systems/olivia/client_mac/4D2004.7r3_MAC_Client.dmg.

Note that this is a ZIP file and you will need a ZIP program (WinZIP or EasyZIP) to unzip the file. If you encounter any problems with installation or operation of the client, please contact the OLIVIA Support Team in OIS.

1. Download this file to your Mac
   Note: You need to be using OS X on your Mac in order to download this file.
2. Install the Client
1. Create a new subfolder called "4D Client 2004.7" in the "ACI" folder on your Mac hard drive (If you don't have an ACI folder, create it on your Mac hard drive).
2. Double click on the downloaded folder icon. Inside you will see a file called "4D Client."
3. Drag this file to the "ACI/4D Client 2004.7" folder in your Mac hard drive.
4. Create an alias on the desktop pointing to the file.
3. Configure the client:
1. Double click on the alias you just created to start OLIVIA. The OLIVIA client will open up and present a window named "Connection to 4D server". Select the "Custom" tab. In the box for Database Name type "OLIVIA Prod" and in the box for Network Address type "olivia-prod.harvard.edu":



2. You are now done with the configuration of the client. Click the OK button. This will save the information about the address of the OLIVIA system and attempt to initiate a new session. You should be prompted for your username and password.

Note: If you encounter an error message "Error -10002" while connecting to OLIVIA, it is possible that your network is not configured to access OLIVIA server port 19813. If you consistently receive this error, contact your IT department to verify that your computer is able to communicate with port 19813 of olivia-prod.harvard.edu.

3. If you would like to configure your client to also be able to connect to the QA system (used for testing and training), repeat steps a and b above, but for the Database Name enter "OLIVIA QA" and for Network Address enter "olivia-test.harvard.edu".
4. OLIVIA image handling requires full installation of QuickTime (the latest version is fine). To download QuickTime, go to the Apple Downloads site (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/).
5. You may now delete the installation folder you downloaded for the OLIVIA client.
4. Using the client:
1. When you double click on the shortcut to the client you will see a "Connection to 4D Server" window that looks like this:



2. Simply make sure the OLIVIA Prod database is highlighted and click the OK button. You will be prompted for your OLIVIA username and password.
