It is not too early for the staff of the Harvard University Libraries to be thinking about possible projects for funding under the Douglas W. Bryant Fellowship. Complete guidelines for applications will appear in Library Notes in November. They can also be found on the Web site of the Professional Development Committee hul.harvard.edu/assembly/pdc/right.html. Questions on the Bryant Fellowship may be addressed to the current chair of the Professional Development Committee, Karen Nipps, in Houghton Library, 495-2509, nipps@fas.harvard.edu.

The Extended Professional Development Opportunity Program is a five-year pilot program that, each year, allows two professional library staff members to take one-to-three months leaves to engage in projects or activities that further their professional development and contribute to their job performance or scholarship more generally. A committee reviews applications and monitors the programs effectiveness.

October 1: Deadline for discussion of project substance and timing with local supervisors and library administration, and
November 1: Deadline for submission of final, locally approved proposals to Extended Professional Development Review Committee.
