Helene Fox—Harvard Hero

Helene Fox, administrative manager for the Harvard University Archives, was designated a Harvard Hero during a June 13 presentation by President Neil L. Rudenstine. In nominating Fox for the award, HUL director Sidney Verba noted, "I am honored to recognize Ms. Helene Fox, Administrative Manager in the University Archives, for this year's Harvard Heroes award. While she consistently exemplifies the qualities of performing beyond expectations and demonstrating an enthusiastic commitment to the University's mission, she also plays another important role in the Archives—that of mentor. . . . She is the Archives' unofficial point person for ADAPT assistance, computer training, troubleshooting, and creative problem-solving. She also serves a vital role with new hires by orienting them and helping to create a welcoming environment. I should also note that her productivity levels continue to climb. HUL management have lauded her thoughtful efforts to organize electronic administrative information and encouraged her to share such 'best practices' across the department very early on."
