Library Digital Initiative:
Report for Year Three

The third annual report for Harvard's five-year Library Digital Initiative (LDI) is now online at The document provides detailed coverage of the LDI's FY 2001—or the fiscal year ending June 30, 2001. The report includes:

  • highlights and accomplishments of FY 2001;
  • LDI's internal challenge grant program;
  • LDI systems and services already in use at Harvard;
  • education, communication, and collaboration within the Harvard library community;
  • staff contributions; and
  • LDI committees.

According to Sidney Verba, Carl H. Pforzheimer University Professor and Director of the University Library, "LDI's accomplishments in FY 2001 contribute to the robust nature of Harvard's digital library infrastructure. These accomplishments are of importance to the students, faculty, and researchers who use Harvard's extraordinary collections every day. Over time, the value of these accomplishments—of this investment on the part of the University—will be proven time and again."
