LDI Report on Year 4 Available Now

The Report of Year 4: 2001-2002 for the Library Digital Initiative (LDI) is now available in print and online. The report, which opens with a foreword from Sidney Verba, the Carl H. Pforzheimer University Professor and Director of the University Library, outlines the LDI mission, surveys highlights for the 2001-2002 academic year, covers the LDI Internal Challenge Grant Program, and enumerates LDI systems and services currently in use.

In his foreword, Verba notes that this report "demonstrates the University's growing reliance on the robust digital infrastructure mandated in the establishment of the LDI in 1998. Four years of concerted, collaborative effort have produced significant accomplishments behind the scenes and, at the same time, brought tremendous day-to-day benefits to Harvard's students, faculty, and scholars. . . . In 1998, we began to build Harvard's digital infrastructure, and ever since, we have been developing functionality incrementally. As LDI enters its fifth year of work, the accomplishments are now comprehensive and tested, enabling us to shift the focus of the Initiative from the development of systems to the needs of users."
