On July 25, the Newspaper Microfilm Reading Room and adjacent stacks opened on the first floor of Widener Library. After weeks of planning for the move and months of construction on the room, the new research and study area opened with a bubble of excitement. Marilyn Wood, head of Access Services, and Jean Lenville, head of the Serial Services Division, were on hand to greet patrons and HCL staff who had come to see the new facility. The room contains a selection of newspapers on microfilm, including the back file of the current newspaper collection held in the Periodicals Reading Room. Materials can be viewed, scanned, or copied from new microfilm readers in the room. |
