The Weissman Center's Ann Swartzell Is HUL's Harvard Hero

Ann Swartzell, the senior preservation program officer in the Harvard University Library's Weissman Preservation Center, was honored by Harvard University President Lawrence Summers as one of this year's "Harvard Heroes." The Harvard Heroes program is presented annually as a recognition of outstanding performance by Central Administration staff members. Swartzell, who has held her position at Weissman since 1998, received her award at the ceremony held in Memorial Hall on June 23.

"Ann is the mainstay and enabler of the Preservation Center. On her watch no problem is too complex to navigate; she makes the Harvard systems work to support needed actions," said Sidney Verba, Carl H. Pforzheimer University Professor and Director of the University Library, in recommending Swartzell for the honor. "She is a tireless steward of Harvard's resources and a resolver of issues at many levels."
