Angelina Altobellis
Conservation Technician (August)

Angelina Altobellis recently relocated from Mississippi, where she was working as a development officer at the Center for the Study of Southern Culture. She has held several jobs pertinent to her new position in the Conservation Lab, including serving as rare book and manuscript intern at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center in Austin, Texas, and as curatorial intern at the Wadsworth Athenaeum in Hartford, Connecticut. She holds an MA in comparative literature from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA in art history and French from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.


Amy Armitage

For the past 10 months Amy Armitage worked as a library assistant in HCL Technical Services, where she helped to reduce the copy-cataloging backlog. She came to HCL with 12 years of experience as a legal assistant and office administrator in law offices in the US and Russia. She holds a BA in Russian studies from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and anticipates completing her MSLIS from Simmons in 2006.


Gabriela Burgman

Gabriela Burgman worked most recently at Harvard Medical School's Countway Library of Medicine, as an archives assistant and then as records manager assistant and archivist for Brigham and Women's Hospital. She has also worked for the Media Union Library and the Hatcher Graduate Library at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She has a BA from Mount Holyoke and an MS in information, with a specialization in archives and records management, from the University of Michigan.


April Burnside

Most recently, April Burnside was a project manager in the Translation Department of ASET International in Arlington, Virginia. She also worked for two years at the Owen D. Young Library at St. Lawrence University, where she earned her BA in modern languages (French, Spanish, and Japanese).


Diana Carey

Diana Carey has an MLS from the Pratt Institute and has worked at institutions as diverse as the William Morris Hunt Library at the Museum of Fine Arts, the Marine Biological Laboratory Archives at Woods Hole, and the American Museum of Natural History in New York. She also spent three years managing a vintage poster gallery in Manhattan, learning about the history of advertising and lithography. Her most recent position was as a library assistant at the Historical Collections of the Baker Library at the Harvard Business School.


Elizabeth Chase

Elizabeth Chase has worked in Preservation Services as a library assistant since October 2001 and before that as a casual conservation assistant. As a member of Preservation Services, she assisted with the preparation and tracking of materials to be treated by the Conservation Lab. She holds an AB in romance languages and literature from Harvard and a MEd from Lesley College.


Eric DeWitt

Eric DeWitt has been working as an LHT employee in the Fine Arts Library for the past five months. Prior to joining HCL, he worked for Swing LTD in Concord, where he worked with technical drawings, prototypes, and digital product photography. He holds a BFA in furniture design from the Rhode Island School of Design.


Christine Eslao

Until recently, Christine Eslao had been a part of the cataloging reduction project in the Materials Management division. She holds an MSLIS from Simmons and a BA in book arts and graphic design from Hampshire College. She has worked in the academic libraries at Simmons, Smith, Amherst, and Hampshire colleges.


Heather Hendry

Heather Hendry recently worked as assistant conservator at the Yale Center for British Art, where she was responsible for examining and treating works of art on paper, as well as books, photographs, and miniatures. She has also worked as contract conservator at the Canadian Conservation Institute. She holds a master's degree in art conservation from Queen's University in Ontario and a BFA from the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada.


Asaph Jagendorf

Asaph Jagendorf has worked in several positions in the Slavic Division over the past two years, most recently as a temp. He is a PhD candidate in comparative history at Brandeis University. He holds an AM in Russian, East European, and Central Asian studies from Harvard, and a BA in history and Russian studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Prior to joining HCL, he served as a research assistant at Tel Aviv University.


Maureen Jennings

Maureen Jennings comes to the PIRC by way of the Harvard Divinity School's Andover–Harvard Theological Library, where she worked as a cataloging assistant and end-processing supervisor. Prior to that, she worked at the Harvard Graduate School of Design's Department of Architecture as office manager and assistant to the Chair, and also worked in libraries at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Vermont. She received her MSLIS from Simmons in 2004 with a concentration in archival management.


Adam Kellie

Adam Kellie has been in the Harvard community for eight years and has worked in both the Fine Arts Library's Slides and Digital Images Department and the Harvard University Art Museums' Digital Imaging and Visual Resources Department.


Lauren Moffa
Preservation Project Librarian/Cataloger (August)

For the past two years, Lauren Moffa was the digital acquisitions librarian at HUL's Office for Information Systems. She has also worked as a serials cataloger in the MIT Libraries, and, prior to that, in technical services at the Massachusetts College of Art. She has a BA in music history and theory from Oberlin College and an MSLIS from Simmons.


Deborah Pardo-Kaplan

Deborah Pardo-Kaplan worked for eight years as a library technician at the Jewish Public Library in Montreal, and also worked in a similar capacity at the Pulp Paper Research Institute in Pointe Claire, Quebec. She holds an MS from the School of Journalism at Columbia University. She also holds a BA and MA in Jewish studies, both from McGill University in Quebec, and a college diploma in documentation and library systems from John Abbott College.


Dawn Piscitello

Dawn Piscitello worked most recently as a registration assistant at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. Prior to that she was a research collections librarian at Boston University's School of Theology Library. She graduated from Simmons with a BA in art history, has an MS in arts administration from Boston University, and is currently enrolled at the Simmons GSLIS.


Donna Popky

Donna Popky participated in Technical Services' backlog-reduction project over the last year and recently completed an MSLIS from Simmons. She also holds an MA in linguistics from the University of Pittsburgh, an MFA in design for the stage from the University of Washington, and a BA in theatre from Smith College. Prior to joining HCL, she worked at the Office of the Registrar at Suffolk University and at the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Linguistics.


Clayton Scoble

In his recent role as acquisitions assistant, Clayton Scoble was responsible for processing images, managing course web sites, and inventorying materials. He also served as LDI Scanning Project assistant. He attended the Berklee School of Music and the University of Massachusetts, and has also been a professional musician for the past 20 years.


Lynn M. Shirey
Librarian for Latin America, Spain, and Portugal (August)

Lynn M. Shirey has filled this position on an interim basis for the past year. Previously, she served as assistant librarian for Latin America, Spain, and Portugal, from 1999 to 2004, and as bibliographer for Latin America at the Harvard Law School Library. She has also worked as a project archivist in Houghton Library and as a coordinator for collection development at HCL Technical Services. She holds an MSLIS from Simmons and an AB from Boston College.


Scott Williamson

Prior to this appointment, Scott Williamson worked as a library assistant in the Access Services and Technical Services departments of Hilles Library since 1988. He performed a variety of responsibilities at Hilles, such as answering questions at the reserves and circulation desks and evaluating materials for repair and commercial binding. Prior to joining HCL, he worked at the Harvard Law School as a circulation assistant. He holds an MSLIS from Simmons and a BA in philosophy from Bates College.
