RMO Offers Guidance on Electronic Record-Keeping
Most of us could use a little help with electronic filing. To help Harvard staff who are working to improve the organization of their files, the University's Records Management Office (RMO) is now offering filing workshops that include a substantial section on electronic record-keeping. These workshops
provide practical guidance on filing systems, filing rules and procedures, and equipment and supplies. In addition to these topics, the new section on
electronic records covers such issues as version control and naming conventions, and includes advice on using system properties to your advantage.
While RMO's 45-minute workshop will be offered throughout the year, it is currently scheduled for three dates during the fall:
- Wednesday, October 5
- Monday, October 24
- Wednesday, November 9
Each workshop session will be held at 10 am in Pusey Library, and pre-registration is required. To register, call the RMO at 5-5961 or visit http://hul.harvard.edu/rmo/resources_01a.shtml.
RMO will provide drinks and snacks at each session.
The Records Management Office is part of the Harvard University Archives, which is charged by the University to ensure the prudent maintenance and efficient disposition of University records, consistent with sound archival standards, budgetary considerations, and legal obligations. The Records Management Office provides general assistance to University offices in the management of their records and information holdings. To learn more about the RMO and the University's records management program, visit the RMO web site at http://hul.harvard.edu/rmo or contact the RMO at 5-5961 or rmo@hulmail.harvard.edu.
