A Research Tool for Library Users

Harvard College Library launched a newly redesigned web site in September. Unlike the previous HCL web system of more than 18 informational sites that each focused on an individual library, the new site focuses on research and is designed to be a tool for library users that enhances and supplements HCL outreach and instruction. New features on the site include an hours database that allows users to see what HCL libraries are open at any given time and a searchable staff directory. Design, content, and format were created in direct response to feedback from a series of focus groups that the HCL Web Production Team conducted last spring with Harvard undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty—the site's primary audience.
