HCL's Summer Construction Projects Are Under Way
Over the course of the summer, the Harvard College Library will undertake a number of simultaneous construction projects affecting Lamont Library, the Woodberry Poetry Room, and the Harvard-Yenching Library.
In Lamont, the construction project that will have the most significant impact on the building, staff, and users is the creation of the new Lamont Cafe in what is now the Reference Room. To accommodate the Lamont Cafe, Lamont's Reference Services will be relocated to a space in the stacks on the main level (Level 3) adjacent to the Ginsberg Reading Room. Some collections will be shifted to Level 5 onto temporary shelving to make room on Level 3 for reference materials.
Lamont in General
In addition to the Lamont Cafe, construction projects in Lamont this summer also include the replacement of the HVAC equipment, removal and resetting of the front exterior steps, replacement of stair treads on four interior stairways, and the renovation of the Woodberry Poetry Room.
Woodberry Poetry Room
HCL's Woodberry Poetry Room will be closed for extensive renovations from May 29 to September 10, during which time the collection will not be available for use. The Poetry Room will re-open Monday, September 11, at 9 am.

- Western-languages collection (including oversize works)
- Japanese LC collection (including oversize works)
- Japanese HY oversize works, J 6040.6 - J 9991
