A Reminder to Harvard Librarians: Hurricane Season Begins in June

Because meteorologists are already speculating on the possibility of a long, active hurricane season (June through November), please make sure that you have done all that you can to protect the Harvard collections:

Review the Hurricane Preparedness page and associated links on the "Library Preservation at Harvard" web site at http://preserve.harvard.edu/emergencies/hurricanes.html
Update the information recorded in your library collections emergency plan. For assistance with plan specifics go to http://preserve.harvard.edu/emergencies/plan.html
Check your inventory of emergency supplies and restock as needed. For a list of recommended supplies go to http://preserve.harvard.edu/emergencies/supplies.html

For help with planning or locating resources, contact Jane Hedberg in HUL's Weissman Preservation Center at jane_hedberg@harvard.edu or 5-8596, or Ethel Hellman in Conservation Services in HCL's Widener Library, hellman@fas.harvard.edu or 5-8871. Hedberg and Hellman are the cochairs for the Library Collections Emergency Team (LCET).

In addition to contacting local support services, call the Library Collections Emergency Team at any time of the day or night at 617-240-2500 if any Harvard collections should be storm damaged.
